With a countless number of free baby photo contests and kid photo contests that are organized by photography clubs and organizations now days, most parents are now more than willing to avail of these opportunities. However while contesting in such photo contests; it is always necessary to remember that the composition and quality of the picture is a matter of great importance here. As a beginner there are just a few tips one needs to master in order to do just fine in a short span of time. With special care to the setting and an appropriate choice of view point, one can definitely work miracles in photography.

The use different kinds of filters are often known to bring about effective tones to the picture. A piece of glass or gelatin acts as a suitable filter. These filters can also be of various shades. However while using a filter the exposure needs to be increased to twice its normal. The background shades, lighting effect and the distance from the photographer also play a major role in bringing life to a photo. A combination of light and shade makes an effective contrast in the picture. Moreover a picture should never be clicked facing the sun.

It is essential that cameras are well kept and taken care of. Dust on the lens of the camera can interfere with the sharpness of the picture. Hence the lens cover always needs to be kept on when not in use.
